Immigration Basics

This is an introductory class to working with the Duke Visa Services office and sponsoring international visitors. We will provide an overview of the services we provide in support of international students and scholars at Duke University. This class is designed to assist department representatives with issues, factors, and the general mechanics of the visa sponsorship process at Duke. Topics will include an overview of terminology, processing times, procedures, and documents for specific visa categories (B—1, J—1, TN, H—1B, etc.), related legal obligations, and the implications of noncompliance.
